Ghent Unveils Plans for Eco-Friendly Stadshal/City Pavilion and Welcomes Tomorrowland

Ghent's Architectural Transformation

The city of Ghent, Belgium, is embarking on an ambitious architectural project: the construction of a new Stadshal/City Pavilion. This innovative structure will serve as a multifunctional public space, hosting events, exhibitions, and markets.

Designed by renowned Belgian architect Stéphane Beel, the Stadshal is a marvel of sustainable design. Its distinctive glass façade will allow natural light to flood the interior, reducing energy consumption.

Tomorrowland's Grand Return

In addition to the Stadshal, Ghent will welcome the return of the iconic music festival Tomorrowland. After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the festival will make its triumphant comeback in 2023.

Tomorrowland, known for its immersive stage designs and world-renowned DJs, will transform the city into a vibrant hub of music and art.

Key Highlights

  • The Stadshal is scheduled to open in 2025.
  • Tomorrowland will take place from July 21-30, 2023.
  • Ghent expects to attract millions of visitors with these two major events.

Ghent's Mayor Mathias De Clercq expressed excitement about the projects, stating, "These initiatives will enhance our city's vibrancy and position Ghent as a cultural destination."
