Lafayette, Louisiana - A small plane crashed at the Acadian Village Golf Course near the Lafayette Regional Airport on Wednesday, killing one person and injuring another.

The plane, a single-engine Cessna 172, crashed around 11:30 a.m. on the golf course, which is located about a mile from the airport.

The pilot, who was the only person on board, was killed in the crash.

The passenger, who was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, was able to get out of the plane on their own.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
