Plane Crashes at Lafayette Golf Course Near Airport, One Dead

Lafayette, Louisiana - A small plane crashed at the Acadian Village Golf Course near the Lafayette Regional Airport on Wednesday, killing one person and injuring another.

The plane, a single-engine Cessna 172, crashed around 11:30 a.m. on the golf course, which is located about a mile from the airport.

The pilot, who was the only person on board, was killed in the crash.

The passenger, who was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, was able to get out of the plane on their own.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

The NTSB is an independent federal agency that investigates aviation accidents and makes recommendations to prevent future accidents.
