Idaho Law Groups to Celebrate Constitution Day

The Idaho State Bar and the Idaho Law Foundation will host the 18th annual Constitution Day celebration on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at the Idaho Supreme Court in Boise.

The free event will feature a keynote address by U.S. District Judge David C. Nye and a panel discussion on the topic of "The Constitution and the Rule of Law."

The event is open to the public and will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Idaho Supreme Court.

History of Constitution Day

Constitution Day is a federal holiday that commemorates the signing of the United States Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787.

The holiday was established by Congress in 2004 and is observed on the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution or on the following Monday if the anniversary falls on a weekend.

The purpose of Constitution Day is to promote understanding of the Constitution and its importance to American democracy.

Constitution Day Activities in Idaho

In addition to the Constitution Day celebration at the Idaho Supreme Court, there are a number of other activities planned throughout the state.

The Idaho State Historical Society will host a Constitution Day open house at the Idaho State Museum in Boise on Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
